Before this weekend, I’d only heard of DragonCon. Believe me when I say hearing about it is not enough. It is truly something you must experience. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around some of what I saw over the weekend!
DragonCon is split between four large convention hotels in downtown Atlanta. THOUSANDS of people attend what has been dubbed as Nerdy Gras. Half of them in costume. It’s surreal.
I took over a hundred photos while I was there, and it was really difficult to edit down, so this is going to be a very big post.
I got to meet Barbara Eden!!! I think it’s pretty easy to tell how excited I was from this photo. She’s every bit as lovely as you would hope she would be.
Also met Wonder Woman!!! The detail on this costume is INSANE!
Green Lantern! Though you can’t tell from the photo, the emblem on his chest was dimensional. Loved this costume!
With John Steed from The Avengers!!! Mrs. Peel and Mrs. Gale must have been off on other assignments.
Harvey Birdman!
With Plastic Man, the one, the original elastic man!
The Sixth Doctor, The Master, and the Tenth Doctor with Adipose!
The Fourth Doctor with knit TARDIS!
The Tenth Doctor. It’s unreal how much this guy looked like David Tennant.
Plan 9 From Outer Space. This is one of my favorites! I saw these folks walking past, and started laughing aloud when I realized what they were dressed as. See below in Black in White.
Black Manta!
Chewie! I spoke Wookie to him, and he patted me on the head. Did I mention this Wookie was about 8 feet tall?
Electra Wow! Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.
Batman, Batgirl and Catwoman from the 1960′s series. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these costumes! I especially love the Eartha Kitt Catwoman!
Holy Bat Villains!!! Joker, Catwoman (Julie or Lee?) and the Penguin! Penguin’s umbrella was lit from the inside, and gave a very cool effect. The Joker shook my hand and got me with the joy buzzer! Love the signs and prop penguin.
Darker Bat-Villain, Two Face. The make up looked even better in person.
Catwoman! This particular Catwoman was featured on the Georgia Public Television documentary Four Days at DragonCon.
Wonder Twin Powers Activate!
The case of Wonderflonium really makes the costume!
N’avi vs. Papa Smurf. Best use of body paint.
Flash Rogues!
Flash and Riddler. Love Flash’s boots!
And another Flash!
Superboy with Beppo the Super Monkey! I heart Beppo.
Superwoman with Martian Manhunter. J’onn J’onez ties with N’avi for best body paint. This is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone dressed as Martian Manhunter. He’s one of my favorite characters, and this made me so happy!
In case you were wondering, there’s Waldo.
These droogs were looking for a little bit of ultra-violence. And perhaps some moloko with vitamins.
Comic style Batman with Green Arrow. LOVE the boxing glove arrow!!!
Glinda and Elphaba!
The Incredibles and Buddy Syndrome!
The Jedis that play together, stay together.
